can't remove rear brake rotor

have a 2000 f150 i was trying to replace the rear brake rotors today and couldn't get them off. i think that the e brake shoes have probably worn a groove into the drum locking them on there. i went to the back of assembly to try to re adjust the adjuster to the all the way in position, but couldn't even turn it either way. i soaked it in wd40 to try to loosen it up but didn't do much, any other suggestions. also any one know which way to turn the adjuster to make it go in, i was just guessing it was up but it didn't matter because i couldn't turn it anyway.

thanks for any help

Have you tried to wack the rotor with 2 or 3lb. hammer. Just bang it around the edges and it should come off.

Well there is a raised area on the rotors around the inside of the "hat" i had problems with mine so i took a ziz wheel around the edge of the hat and the flange before reinstalling and after a year rotors still come loose when the lugs are backed off.

Make sure you hit it from the front! A well placed piece of wood, and a sledge will usually do the trick. There is a groove or rust on the inner part of the rotor that is holding it in place. It will take some time, but they will eventually break free.

A little heat never hurts either. You could use propane or mapp gas. If you dont have it you can buy a tank and tip from wallymart for $10-$20.

Torch with wood and mallet. That is my next task too. I have to fix my sticky e-brake, but my rotors wouldn't come off either. I didn't have the time to mess with it then, but I will in May.
