Anything 7.5 or wider should be fine. I have 295/70/17 on the stock 7.5 rims with no problems.

assume you have a leveling kit.....going to need to find something with around the stock specs....5.5'' bs on a 8.5-9'' wide rim and probly still do a little trimming on the valence.

If all you have is a leveling kit, I'd try to find an 8 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing.

You can go with a 17x9. but anything under that will work as well. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me and i can help you out with the setup. I lso carry what ever wheel tire package you want too with good pricing.

Backspacing is simply a measurement, it's not adjustable. It's the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel (where it bolts to the hub) to it's rear edge.

I am just jumping in on this thread to not start another...but I have already searched and did not really find my answer to this yet.

I understand that the wheel width on the 2004 17 inch wheel is 7.5 inches and the backspacing is 5.5 inches, but all the ads on eBay for wheels are using offset to describe the wheels, not backspacing.

I have calculated that the stock 2004 17 inch wheel is a +44mm offset, can someone confirm this? Also, if I find a 17 inch wheel with the 6/135 lugs for the f150 or the lincoln or the expedition in the 44mm offset I should be pretty much identical to the stock wheel specs correct? Unless, of course, the real offset turns out to be 30mm, but I don't think so.

44mm or 30mm offset...that is the question.

The problem with offset is it depends on wheel width also. A 9 inch wide wheel with 44mm offset is differnt than a 7.5 inch wide wheel with 44mm offset. This is why backspacing is easier to understand.
