Exclamation Tire Term Question

I am going to get the Nitto Terra Grappler and I was looking at the size and specs. I am pretty sure that i am going to get the 295-70 R 17 and i was curious between the D range and the E range. I don't know what these do so i don't want to make a mistake. if you could tell me which one is made for what and which one is better i would appreciate it. Thanks for any advise you can give me.

If your set on that size tire, it's easy, Nitto only makes a D in that size

I recently got the 285/75/16's and difference between the load of the D and E was about 350, I don't think I'll ever tell the difference so I got D (didn't know that until after I looked at them though).

If you want E, you can drop to a 285 or go up to a 305 if it fits...

The Nitto website is pretty good for sizes and specs.

I can't tell you a difference since I've only had D rated tires. I had P tires on this truck before I got the Nitto's. I assume my tires are a little lighter than the E's, but my truck did everything I ever needed it to with P tires, so I was ok with just D's.

I'm not even close to an expert, but I did a lot of research before I bought mine last month, maybe one of those guys can chyme in and give a better answer.

e rated tires will be a little heavier and a little stiffer in turn may ride a little rougher. an e rated tire is overkill for an f150 but you can still use it.
