305/65/18 on stock wheels?

Bear with me on this. These tires are almost 34" tall and 12.5" wide, correct? From what i've read this would be the max size for the stock wheel, right? I have a 2" AS leveling kit on the front and air bags in the rear, so they should fit with out any problem and look good too. My concern is having a 12.5" wide tire on the stock wheel. I use my truck to pick up wood pellets during the winter. A ton at a time. Will that weight in the box, combined with the wide tires on my stock wheels give me any problems? Is it possible to roll those size tires off the wheels hauling that much weight?
Any input would be appreciated...

The 305/65/18's are closer to a 33.5" tall, and is only 12" wide. It works fine. Many people are are running the 35/12.5/18's without any issues, so the 305's should be fine. I have some close ups of the 305's on my factory wheels in my gallary.

As mentioned, that's about a 33.6 x 12 inch tire. With that in mind, the worst issue you'd have is a bit of rubbing on the control arms at full lock. My buddy has 305 Pro Comps that do this.

Anyway, I would say go for it. With the 2" AS it'll look great. As for hauling a load, get an add-a-leaf kit to go with raising the front. You won't be sorry. Stock ride is maintained and you get a better stance and a bit more payload. What's not to like?

Hey, do a search for the post 285 vs 305. A guy just went through this same thing and his truck turned out great with 305 BFG A/T's.
I have an 07 and soon to be installing a 2" leveling kit and I'm going with the same BFG A/T in the 305/65/18 after seeing how his turned out. If you just want to see the truck and not all of the posts..here you go.

That looks pretty nice with the white letters out - it matches the paint. Good lighting too, just the right amount of shine on the tires.

As for the 285 thing, do you mean the Toyo 285/75/18? That's a true 35" tire, just not quite as fat as a 305. Maybe take a look at those, Chisum?

The 305/65's really seem to fill up the wheel well very nicely. Seems like BFG is a popular choice. Is BFG the only one that make the 305/65's ?

Yep. They are the perfect size for a leveled truck IMO.

What's the lowest "leveling kit" height needed to fit the 305/65/18's? And how close is the tire to upper ball joint clearance?

Thanks

I wouldn't go less than a 2" Leveling kit. Not sure on other kits, but the 2" Autospring netted me 2.5" and it's perfect. I was not able to fit Husky molded mudflaps on with the 305's though. It would have rubbed on the mud flap when turning. Other than that there has been no clearance issues.
It is not a clearance concern to the upper BJ with the FACTORY wheels. There are a lot of guys putting on the 35/12.5/18's on and even they don't have issues being a 1/2 inch wider tire.

Thanks for the clearance info. I really wasn't sure where the rubbing points were.

I just got these yesterday. 325/65/18 Terra Grapplers. I have a 2 1/2" leveling kit. I'll probably rub just a bit - may have to trim down the black plastic in the front.

ok so I'm a nitwit and will post them when I can figure out how to upload the pics. I figured out the links though. I can take some more views and link them if anyone is interested. I love the way these things look.
