Craigslist Tire Scam?

So I just put my old stock wheels and rims on Craigslist...got a quick response. Guy wouldn't call, but sent a lenghly email about how he'd pay full price and shipping, send me a company check, then I pay back the shipper with any left over money. He wanted my name, address, and phone number.

I've never sold anything online before...but this sounds fishy...scam?

On Ebay, I only take Paypal. When selling on Cragslist...I demand that they pick it up, and cash only. If he wants them, he will oblige your wishes. If he does not, someone else will buy them.

So far...2-1, Scam!

Maybe it is legit, but I would not proceed with the transaction.

Its a scam. I get the same kind of responses to my ads on Craigs List. Only accept cash and never ship and you will always be safe on Craigs List.

Here is an email I got for some tires I have for sale on Craigs List. I bet its the same email that you got.

"Hello, thank you for the prompt response to my enquiry am very much
satisfied with the condition and price of the item and i would like to
make an outright purchase immediately so i will advice that you
withdraw the advert from the web.Pls i will like to know how you
intend to procedure on this okay but i would prefer that i issue a
certified cheque or money order in us dollars to you location after
which my shipper will be coming over for the pick up once you have
gotten that.I read through the advert and am okay with it so please i
will need both you name and address to post the payment and would
appreciate you include you phone#,regards"

They will send you a fake money order or cashiers check. You wont know its fake till several days after you deposit it. By that time you will have already shipped your wheels to the person in Nigeria. DONT DO IT!
They send out 1000's of these general emails to people on Craigs List all over the country.

Sleestak, that name gets me rollin' every time I see it. And I get the Land of the Lost theme in my head. Unless that's your real name and I apologize.

After I got his email I sent him a no thanks. I just wanted to make sure.

I have got that scam everytime I've posted stuff on Craigslist. I always say cash only, and local pick-up. If I sell it on ebay I use Pay-Pal

This was mine...

Thanks for your prompt response,i will buy the item and pay the asking price but i will not be able to look at it now because of my tight schedules my shipper will do that for me. I will make my payment with a company check. To make things work easier,i will arrange for shipping myself and send the shipping charge alongside the cost of the item you are to deduct the cost of the item and get back to my shipper with excess of the fund as soon as you get the check cashed..I need your name, valid contact address and phone number to mail the check to you today or tomorrow via ups next day delivery by air. Please proceed to delete the advert from craigslist.

I have a bunch more stuff to sell so at least now I know.

No thats not my real name. Sleestaks used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid. They were really creepy. Not many people remember Land of the Lost.
