Nitto or Toyo????

I am getting new tires for my 06 FX4. I can get either Terra Grapplers or Open Countries for the same price. I have had Terras before and really liked them, but have heard good things about the toyos also. Anybody have any complaints about either tire? Thanks in advance.

I vote Nittos as far as looks. I believe they are made by the same parent company and are basically the same tire as far as tread is concerned. I just like the look of the Nitto sidewalls better.

Yes I am talking A/Ts, I knew they were made by same company, but didn't know if anyone had any problems. I am looking at ordering 285/60/18. I am leaning towards the Nittos.

I haven't heard of anyone having problems with either brand - both are excellent tires.

Nitto's are made by Toyo and both are great tires, I have a set of Toyo AT's for a spare set. The Nitto's do look a little better.

I had the Nitto's and they were a awesome tire. Gread tread wear. Can get 40-50K easily with proper rotation.

I have a 2002 2wd lifted 5" in front and 3" in rear...I have the 17" silver Fx4 wheels on a silver supercab...trying to decide between the Terra Grapplers in a 295/70R17 at 33.2"x12.1"...305/70R17 at 34"x12.3"...or the Toyo A/T's in a 285/75R17 at 33.8x11.8"...I gave my buddy a ride to les scwhab today and they had a used set of 315/75R16's - basically at 35x12.5...and I think I could clear them but they are small 35's and they were a little worn down. Also they wanted almost $1400 mounted for the 285/75R17 Toyos! You can get them online for less than $800 shipped! I wish the Terra Grapplers came in the 285/75R17 since they are made by the same people! Does either one wear differently?

My choice was also between the Nittos and the Toyos. I went with the Toyos.

Why? Because I like white letters on the sidewall. Toyos have them, Nittos don't. Gret tires.
