Newbie has 1st question...

Whats up everyone...Just registered to the site and here's my 1st post. I just got a 97 F-150 4wd and I've been looking at getting some new shoes for it. I know this is probably a common question about tire fitment and looks, but any help would be awsome. I'm looking at 285/75/r16 (33x11.5) mounted on a set of 16x8's with 4.5in backspacing and 0mm offset. If anyone is running a similar setup have you had any problems or needed to do any modifications for anything? I'm not looking to do a lift just yet, and I want the tires to run flush with the stock flares...I don't want to have to cover up any extra rubber sticking out with new flares. Will I HAVE TO use a leveling kit even though the rim is the stock size?, or will it work to just mount them and go? Thanks in advance everyone...any pics or info would help.

your torsion bars are a built in leveling kit. I don't know much about rims so I'm not sure where those would sit as far as sticking out the sides, but the 285's should be no problem. welcome

They should fit no problem. Backspacing is the same as the stock wheel. The wheel is an inch wider than stock so it will stick out about an inch farther. The tire will stick out a little over an inch more than the stock tires providing the truck still has the stock tires on it.

Thanks for the welcome! Ya, i figured I may be turning up the torsion bars. Thought I'd throw the question out there in case there was something I was missing before I went and got them. The tires on there now are255/70/r16, which I think are 30x10.5, and Im assuming they are 16x8 wheels...anyhow, they just don't seem to fill the wheel wells enough. Anyone with any pics of a similar set-up?

The oem 16's are 7 inches wide. If you want the tire to be even with the edge of the fender flares you are gonna have to use a 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing. I have pics of my Screw at stock height with 285's on 16x10's in my gallary.
