Metallic sound on new(er) brakes?

Hey all, I have an '08 scab 5.4 with the 18" chrome 5 spokes and just over 12K miles. I was driving in traffic in Boston by some concrete barriers and I could hear almost a metal on metal like sound whenever I applied the brakes. It's not to the point where it sounds like the pads are worn all the way out and the "warning" pins in the pads are grinding the rotor, but it is definately a metal like sound. The rotors look ok, but seem to have a slight "ribbed" texture to them. I do mixed city and highway driving, I don't brake heavily or very hard, but I obviously don't ride the brake either, and I just can't see the brakes needing replacement after only 12K on a new truck. Any ideas on what I might be dealing with?

Seems about normal, they will make some noises, especially in traffic let's say. Give it some time and see if it worsens.
