That's correct, but it will effect the look, and capacities. IMO, and especially on a 4x4, a larger sidewall looks beefier and has more of a truck look. The smaller the rim, the larger the sidewall.

 

Sorry to be a pain on this 20" tire thing, but of all of you running the BFG T/A's, how many are running LT tires? Do you notice any harsh differences in ride over the factory P-metric tires your trucks came with? What pressures are you running with? As many of you have probably seen my P.I.T.A. posts the past few days, I am still trying to decide if I should have the dealer swap out the stock 20" Pirelli's for 20" BFG T/A KO's before I take it. I want an LT because of towing my 6,000# travel trailer, but am concerened as a daily driver, I'llbe back into a lumber wagon when the Pirelli's woudl amybe have been fine all along. X2 for Dog's setup, except I have a 2.0" AutoSpring leveling kit.





I'm running mine at right around 50 PSI. I haven't really noticed any decrease in ride quality. I mean, it not exactly a high end sedan, it rides like a truck ya know?

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I can't see it riding worse than my Superduty does right now, but then again, the F-150 is a fair bit lighter.

By the way, that truck of yours looks great. I've had two black Supercrews - a 2005 and a 2007 - and black is still the favorite color I've had. I just didn't like it on the King Ranch this time with the Pueblo Gold.

 

I decided to go with the MB Express 18" with the BF Goodrich T/A KO 305/65/18 got them on order cost around $2000 with warranty. I got some one buying my factory 20"s and tires for $950 not to bad. also gettin a 2.5 Level done tommorow

 

Your truck looks perfect! I have 285/65/20 and I really don't like the small sidewall with this wheel/tire combo.
I don't know anything about leveling kits and was curious what is AS compared to AAL? Is one the front and the other the rear? Also is the ride bouncy/stiff after it was installed compared to stock?

If the dealer will swap the Pirellis for BFG's for free, DO IT!!! I wish I woulda thunk of that! I have an 08 with factory 20's/Pirellis and am switching out to FX4 18's and 35" BFG's. I just installed the 2.5"AS today, so maybe, you could get the 2.5" AS and have the dealer get you some 285/65/20 BFG's and it would look as sweet as NCSU's truck.

Thanks. The 2.5" AS is an AutoSpring 2.5 " Leveling kit (Front) and the 1.5" AAL is an Auto Spring 1.5" Add-A-Leaf (Rear).

Ride is slightly stiffer in the rear but it is a truck, not a luxury car so a slightly stiffer ride is fine with me as these trucks ride so smooth from the factory.

 

i have stock 20" rims from a 2006 lariat. do you still want to trade?

 

As great as NCSU's wheels look (and I've told him so more than once) I think those would look even better with some 37" tires mounted on them ! Come on NCSU, what's stopping you ? :-) Those and a 6" lift, then I can live vicariously through your bad *** truck :-)

Seriously though, I think 20" wheels can look great too..... I just kind of lean towards 17" and 18"s. I'm going with 17"s, and feel totally okay with that decision. The thing that still bugs me is that I have to go with dinky little 33" tires, so I can afford the gas to turn them :-( Maybe 35"s for the next set, if 33"s work out better than expected....

Hey fellas, I have read a ton of your posts and they have been really helpful.

I need your help because despite my searches, I havent found someone with my setup (or at least pictures or testimonial).

I have an 05 lariat 2wd. While many have said that once a leveling kit is put on that 35" will fit 4wd and 33" will fit 2wd, I havent seen or heard of anyone doing it. I really wanted a 4x4, but couldnt pass up the monster deal i got on my truck.

I have already purchased a 2.5" leveling kit (2.5" front, 1" block in back). Will add a leaf on rear if necessary (hoping not to have to). I am going to try and knock out the installation this weekend if I get time.

My question is this.
My understanding is that I currently have 18" stock wheels on it now.
After the lift, I want to step up to 285/65/18 BG Goodrich A/T. Do you fellas see any problems with this?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

 

I ended up going with the 275/70/18 BFG. Hope this helps any others with similar issues or questions.
