How bad are OEM pads?????

Some people on this site say to stay away from OEM pads why? I need new pads on the rear and I got 51K out of the old OEM pads. Will I get more out of aftermarket pads?

I don't know about the earlier model years, but for the 04 to '08's, they are horrible!!!! Go with Carquest Blues or Wagner Thermoquiets. They are the top 2 pads that most members here seem to go with. I have the Carquest Blues and I love them! Great pads and little to no dust!

I replaced my original pads at 11,000 miles due to excessive dust. I have put 58,000 on the Wagner Thermoquiets and still have about half a pad. I will never run the OEM again.

I can't speak for the Wagner pads, but for the Carquest Blues, just go to any Carquest Auto Parts store. They run about $40 to $45 for a set.

Changed my original pad's at 42k miles and most of the miles were stopping 33 or 35" tires. Also did a good bit of towing also. Only gripe was the brake dust up front. I did go with the Carquest Blues about 2k miles ago and they are doing great.

OEM pads, not bad....... but far from great. Lots of front dust, maybe a brake bias issue (engineering) on newer models but going with these mentioned pads will make you forget about brakes. I'm actually trying the "blue" series (black in color) ceramics from Carquest. I saw how many pad choices I actually had from them, wow, I'd say 8 choices maybe. So specifically, the "blue" semi-metallics work fantastic, "blue" ceramics seem just as good, things with part numbers beginning in "B" ARE GOOD, "G" IS CRAP. Example, last set of rear pads # BCD (C- ceramics) 711 and BMD-711, (M-metallics), I had GMD-711's and they squeeled like pigs.

Good choice on the Thermo-Quiets as well, you will be equally satisfied in all ways.
