Okay Paw Paw.....

Your just killing me here ! Why do your darn 315/70-17"s have to look so damn good ?!?!

I'm trying to be happy with 285"s or 295"s...... But every time I see you guys with your 315"s or (measured the other way) 35"s, I'm just like.... uhhh.... messed up !

So, since this is all your (you guys) fault, you have to answer a few things for me here...

In all honesty, how much do you think 34.5" or 35" diameter tires would hurt my mileage ? I mean, I know you have heard me say that mileage is VERY important to me.... But I also want my truck to look tough, rugged, and outdoors'y. I'm really not worried about spending $250 or $300 more on tires. But I would really still like to get as close to 18mpg's as possible (I mean, after the truck is broke in, 98% highway miles, at a 'grandpa slow' 60 mph.... Magna flow exhaust, CAI, maybe with an economy tune, etc)

And another thing Paw Paw, I see that you are running a 2 1/2" level.... and 17 x 8 wheels. How close are you to rubbing or hitting anywhere ? The wheels I'm looking at > http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/Pr...n=PXA7005-7870 < are available in either an 8" or 9" width. Would you recommend the 8" ? The 9" might hit ? Oh, and I'm only going with a 2" lift also (Bilstein adjustable height 5100's)

Damn you guys and your sweet looking trucks, with those big fat wheels, anyway ;-)

Fish

PS, About the mileage question..... Remember, I only have the 4.6L and 3.55 gears...... anticipating (almost always) a light load, and again, looking for mileage.....

....or should I just stick to my 295"s and be happy ?

From what I can tell, if you are worried about milage, stick to what you have. You are going to waste money that could be put in your gas tank.

Now what would I do? I'd run the 35's

Just remember, you have to pay to play. You will lose some power - turning those lugs with the 4.6 will be a little more tough. I'd say go for it though

Well wrobo....

I don't have "any wheels" yet (hoping my brand new F150 will be here in the next week) But believe me, I sure won't allow my truck to roll on those lame 235"s with those hideous steel wheels, for more than the first few days.

I probably will still end up going with the 295/70-17 Nitto's..... But damn those 315"s look so good !

Another sillily question I am going back and forth between 33 12.50 17 and 35
I see people with a similar Truchk 2005 XLT 4x4 with a 2.5 in procomp level with 35's but I a have been told the 33 is as big as I can go?

Fish, in all honesty you may be better off with a 295 tire with that engine and rear end gear. My 5.4 w/3.73's have a hard time. Had to get a Edge to help out the shift point's to help get this big truck rolling. I still get 16 to 17 mpg on my daily 100 mile commute but if I try to pull anything heavy look out. On the wheels I have now I have no rubbing at all in the front, when I had them on my 17x9 wheels they rubbed in the front. You have to keep the tires and the wheels tucked in the wheelwells to have more clearance. Picture below is when I had the 315's on my 9" wheels, looked good and had a wider stance but rubbed on the lower front wheelwells. Good luck, have a safe Memorial Day and don't forget the people who died to give us our freedom. Catch you guy's later, gone fishin!

Thank you Paw Paw, and....

ya' know, I totally plan on getting a custom tune myself... But as I had said in the tune section, "not until" I give the truck a good, solid, break-in and testing.... Probably 9 months, or a year from now.

So, I'm glad then, to see, that your running 8" wide wheels with your 315's..... so that in 3 or 4 years when I need new tires (and already have a tuner which can correct my shifting points) I can always go to 305"s, or 315"s then.....

But damn you truck looks good !

Peace,
Fish
