Dry Rot on Toyos

I have some 37"x13.50R17 Toyo Open Countries that are starting to show some dry rot. I bought them 12/06 so they are going on 2 years old. I religiously balance and rotate them. Is this normal/something I should be worried about? I'd post pictures but it is at the shop for something else

SERIOUSLY! I got my leafs that squeak, my tires are rotting, and my vibration problem. There is a $2500 worth of repairs. I am hoping that tires should have some sort of protection against that. I am just trying to do my homework for when I get the gears fixed. I wouldn't even mind partially paying for a new set. I really doubt that they should be rotting.... Am I right?

How long is your commute? Does your truck just sit a lot? That could factor into the dry rot issue?

Check out this thread about actual age of the tire.It could be a lot older than 12/06 even if they look new.

There is a post on this site about tires that sit in a warehouse for long periods of time and are sold much later. Sounds like that is what you got. When buying tires the date they were made is stamped on the sidewall near the bead. This needs to be checked to assure they have not been sitting around for yeas prior to sale.

The truck was my daily driver until recently. I do almost all city driving with the occasional road trip. I called Toyo and they said if I have only had them for a year and a half they should not be rotting or "ozoning." They said for me to take it to the shop and have them inspect it to insure that it is not regular wear. The tires have a 5 year warranty on them against defects. I won't be too mad if they don't replace them but I can guarantee you if I have a blow out I will be going back.
