BFG AT or ProComp Extreme AT

Looking for new tires, 06 FX4 Screw, running factory 18's. I'm not sure which tire to get the BFG AT's 305/65/18 or PC Extreme AT's 35x12.5x18. Most driving done on road, rest is Arizona desert/mtns for hunting, camping fishing. Which tire is best and is the size difference that big of deal?
thanks
Drew

BFG's are good and so are pro comps. we move more procomps than anything, but man if you have the $$, get the best. go for toyo open country muds... you can get 4 for $1375. haven't known anyone NOT to get at least 50k miles out of them...

I have a Pro Comp lift, Pro Comp wheels, and while they make good tires, I run BFG's. Best truck tires on the market, weather it be all-terrain, mud-terrain or the awesome krawlers

have you looked into the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's? They are a smooth, quiet and very aggresive looking AT.

Both are excellent tires. The only thing I don't like about the Pro Comps is they are a directional tire, which limits tire rotation. As for size, you are basically looking at a 34x12.50-18 (BFG) and a 35x12.50-18.

BFG's

As an owner of the pro comps I say go with the BFG's. I have 20k miles on mine now and cannot wait till they wear out. They look really good in person but I am def not satisfied with the noise they have developed over the last 5k miles.

Over 20k miles on my BFG AT's and showing almost no wear so far. They ride good too with little noise. Suprising for such a large tire.

Hey crash_lucky13......

50K miles out of a MT tire ? That's the first time I've ever heard that kind of a claim for tread life on a MT tire. I know Toyo makes great tires, but 'if' I could be assured of 50K miles, and 'if' they made a 34" Toyo MT, I'd buy them instead, of the BFG AT's......

But that a couple of pretty big 'if's'.......

Hmmmm,
Fish

PS, Hey BTW guys, these Pro Comp Extreme's tires look great, are priced good, and are just about the same height I was looking at with the BFG AT 305/65-18"s..... but are an inch wider: http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tires/Pro...&t_pn=PCT58033
Would these fit with a 2" level, Wandell ?

I have the Pro Comps and 12,000 miles on them. They balance well, get good traction, and still look like they are new. I balance them every 6,000 miles. I think they rock. They are directional, but you get great traction and as far as tread life, as I said before they still look new.

on tires you usually pay for what you get on them man. why are you looking for a 34"? i know it's alot of 'ifs', but read around some more (wait, ALOT more) before you pull the trigger on which tires you want. make sure you know EXACTLY what you WANT when you order them, that way there are NO suprises when you get them

Hey Crash....

couple things...

I'm looking for 34"s or as close to that as possible, because in my research, I hear that 35"s sometimes rub or hit just slightly, on 2wd F150's, with only a 2 1/2" level (and mine will only be a 2" max, when going with Bilstein 5100 adjustable height shocks).

I hear you about "getting what you pay for"....... But with tires, sometimes you might get a tire "which is REALLY good off-road..... but doesn't neccesarily have the longest tread life. Same thing with street racing tires, which might be speed rated at really high seeds, and give you outrageously good traction..... but might only last 1/5 as long as some of the cheaper, touring style tires.

Anyway, this is in no way, a slam on Pro Comp MT's..... In fact, after reading this thread, I'll consider them again myself. They are some agressive looking tires :-)

Peace,
Fish
