Is it possible to run 18x9 with 35's on a leveled (2.5) and 3 inch rear block?

From what I understand, plan on a backspacing of right around 5 1/2" - 6". I wanted to run the same thing but I have a 4.75" and I'm told I'll rub regardless of whatever mods I do. There's a really clean truck on here that runs a 17x9 w/ 5 1/2" BS on 35's without issue so...
