Tire size for 17" Motos on a 2wd?

I just picked up a set of 17x9 Moto Metal 951's in black and am trying to figure out what the best tire size would be. It is a 2008 2WD with just a 2" AS Leveling kit in the front. Should a 285/70 17 work ok with the 9 inch rim? I am thinking some BFG AT's in that size should look and ride pretty decent...am I right?

I think that would fit and look great on a leveled 4x2.

Oh and this is to Wandell (or anyone else that can help) ....I think the offset of the rims is -12, so like 4.53" backspacing. Still OK with a 285/70? Should I inquire about maybe a different offset, and what would you recommend? I assumed that since most of the Moto rims I see listed are -12 offset thats what I will be getting. I just don't want them to stick out "too far" but I still want a wider more aggressive stance w/out having to put flares on it. Kind need to know ASAP before I go pick 'em up. Thanks for all the help guys!

A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.53 inches of bs is gonna stick out about 2.5 inches farther than the oem wheels. I think one with 5 to 6 inches of bs would be a better choice. A lot of the MM wheels are available with 4.53, 5.7 or 6.1 inches of bs. I think a 9 inch wide wheel with 5.7 inches of bs would be just about perfect. It would stick out about 1.5 inches farther than the oem wheels.

Cool, thanks for the help...just waiting to hear back from the seller regarding what offset are available. I will post some pics as soon as I get some new tires for them. However I just did the figuring and the 9 inch wheel with the 5.71 bs will sit .5 inch closer to the suspension...will this be a problem with a leveling kit and rubbing on the front suspension?

No, that will probably be your best choice. You will probably have to do some minor trimming if they have the 4.53 inch bs.

They would fit with a 6 inch lift on a 4x2 or a 4 to 6 inch lift on a 4x4.

Did you ever get these MM 951 with the 285/70's?
