Sorry you aren't happiest with them, but you are one in many that haven't had luck. I'm gonna try their ceramics soon on the front as they are doing well on the rears now. You can see pics in my signature of the rims inside, it blew me away as to how little dust was in them.

He must be hard as hell on brakes - Not one set of Blues that I've used in the past Dusted the rims. I think I've used Blues since they first came out. Even the 2 year Blues never dusted on me. I tried the Expensive Ceramics before - They like to warp the rotors - Went back to Blues and I'll never stray again.

It's not the brakes man - It's rotor dust..

Blues huh?

I get the black pads from Carquest. Not sure of the difference. But you all should really spray the blue tacky stuff on the pad backing and pad block itself. Reduces dust to all hell

See, I use to think the "blue" was the color for semi-metallics with a warranty. Not so. Each line has many compounds, metallic, semi, ceramic, etc. The lines are color coded. The blue line to me is best, warrantied, and the ceramics are black in color. I know, weird but worth it when you get the right pads.

We'll I've had the blues on for 20,000 miles and while I've never stated that they don't dust AT ALL, they are worlds better than the factory front pads.

Used to be you could tell a huge difference between the front and rear wheels when it came to dust. The fronts being black and the rears hardly noticeable. Now with Carquest blues on the fronts they look the same when it comes time to wash the truck. Point being there is some dust, just not anything like before.

"man i had blues on my truck for about a month and had to yank them off they were the dirtyest pads i ever had. i got ceramic pads from advance auto and they seem to be pretty good."

I did the same exact thing. Replaced the stockers with Carquest Blues at 12k, and took them off after 2000 miles and replaced them with Auto Zone ceramics. The blues definitely created darker dust than the stock pads.

Hell, even if 80% of this site alone agree these pads are great OE replacement pads, something must be right, no? I think something smells funny when after a few thousand miles, they get crazy dusty. Look at my inner rim after a year and it is better than most outers after a week!!! That's no exageration. Maybe they are put on wrong, bad caliper, bad rotor? Who knows, but stick with what works in any case.

Nice B/S guage BTW!!!

Yea , he must have had other problems. Or didn't get Blues. Remember the "Golds" - When they were Gold. I had problems with those warping rotors.

That line has been updated now tho.

If you are using OEM rotors, that could be an issue as well. I pulled my pads and rotors at 9000 miles. I went with Powerslot Cryo rotors and Carquest Blue pads (semi metallic) I am very OCD when it comes to my truck. With stock pads and rotors, I had to wash my wheels about every 3 or so days. Now, I can go a couple of weeks and the dust is thee, but hardly noticeable. I for one am happy I went with Carquest Blue pads.

I imagine there's other good brands out there. Back when Carquest had "Golds" - They were Lifetime Ceramics but uncomfortable as far as braking - eventually warped my stock rotors.

Thru on a set of Brembo's w/fresh set of Blues and it was like night and day. Stopped smooth, quick and quietly. Never noticed dust with either pad.

I didn't need to look any further after trying the Blues - No complaints, Never a problem.

Ya, them f-n "gold" pads, twice the price too. They squeeled like pigs after 7k. They weren't ceramics as I thaught, a full metallic I believe. Like I said before, I'm gonna try the "blue" line of ceramics for the front, the rears seem great so far. The "gold" pads did not give off alot of dust, nothing out of the ordinary anyways, just the "blue" semi-met's have given me no noise and 99% no dust which was a bonus really.

I haven't looked at my Blues in along time, I'll have to check them out. Before I installed those , I added new dual piston calipers. That was more than a year ago.. I have to replace the Master cylinder in her now when I get a chance - Damn thing caught on fire - Ahh, Uhmm, I left my spot on and laid it on top - I forgot about it

I hate it when that happens!

Anyway, I have a new one , but wanted to thro new lines and valve body on while I'm in there. The body that sits just below the master + lines. Kelsey Hayes I think? I can't find those lines anywhere - Just the rubbers is all I'm seeing from the third party shops.

Oh well, I'll keep looking or ask in a new thread maybe.

Carquest

Carquest carries two or three lines of most parts - red, blue, and gold box.

Carquest has Red, Blue and Gold pads. All are made by Raybestos (a good portion of the gold pads are being switched over to Akebono, mostly for imports). Reds are cheapest, have a 1yr warranty and are like what you'd get at Firestone or Brake Check. Blues are supposedly OE equals or most similar, 2yr warranty, best-sellers. Golds are premium, lifetime warranty, and contain pad hardware.

Reds are not chamfered as are Blues and Golds and may contain shims.
Blues may sometimes contain pad hardware and are usually shimmed.

here is the part# prefix code (put R, B, or G in front for red, blue or gold):
D=organic
MD=semi-metallic
CD=ceramic

I wonder what I got. Went to Carquest, and asked what they had. For mine, they had 2 pads, both Raybestos. One was cheaper (60ish, I think) and the "better" ones were 98$, I think. Ended up getting the cheaper ones. Those the Blues? They were semi-metallics, BTW.
