Cooper STT?

anybody ever tried these cooper discoverer stt muds? it seems to have bad reviews on discounttire.com. it is a really cool looking tire, just looking around for new 33s because mine are getting really worn down. what kind of mileage could you expect out of these? if anybody has any experience with them. thanks

I havn't heard too many bad reviews on them, probably be getting a set next week. They're atleast $200 cheaper than BFG A/Ts around here. I think south ms spruce has gone through 2 or 3 sets and is getting about 45,000 miles out of them, maybe closer to 50,000. Thats a lot of life out of a M/T and some A/Ts.

yeah i've seen them in 33x12.50x17 on FX4 wheels and they look REALLY good. Thats weird though, i think i've only heard one and it was from some one with a F-350, so their truck would weigh a whole lot more. A lot of members here have them though and when i asked about them they were pleased with them. Heck, even the GM dealer in town puts them on their lifted trucks. If i end up getting them next week i'll be sure to let you know how i like them, anything should be better than the almost bald mud grapplers that came on the rims i got, i can barely hear myself think rollin down the road

My buddy has the 33X12.50x20 STT...They are pretty quiet for a M/t and do very well with traction especially in snow and on trails, he hunts and has to go on some trails now and then and they have preformed great from what i have seen, and they are very aggresive looking tire and seem to be wearing great, ive heard nothing but good compliments from him.

I believe my friend is getting close to 10,000 miles on them and they still look great. Blakef-150 is his ID on here, not sure how much he checks his msgs but you could pm him and he could give you a little better info on them!

There's a guy on here named Pimp Rohr or something like that (the Dual Liner guy) and he's got a set on a white supercrew that look awesome. I'll try to find a pic.

A friend of mine had a set of Discoverer STTs on his 03 Dodge 1/2-ton. 265/75/17 if I remember right. The tread was about half gone at 30,000miles...roughly half of that was gravel and off road, the rest was on highway. This was with rotation every 5000 miles. He traded the truck a little while back so I'm not sure how long that set would've lasted For an aggressive M/T tire I don't think that was too bad of a lifespan.

Even with the 5k rotation schedule, the tires were pretty rough riding and he never could keep them balanced as well as a set of BFG M/Ts. This is pretty much typical of most M/Ts though from my experience.

They will dig though! It's a great tire in the mud and even on dry dirt and rock terrain. They didn't do all that well on slushy snow roads or ice, but there isn't much siping on the tread either. I think if you'd throw some extra sipes on em they'd do better in the winter. They are better than the old BFG M/T in snow though (not the KM2 style)...the BFGs have no siping at all.

I'm planning on putting a set on my little Nissan off-road rig once I re-gear it. Around here, they're about the same price as BFG and Toyo M/Ts...I might try to order online if I can find em cheaper.

yeah im running them...check my gallery for pics...im on my 3rd set of the new style STT and had one set of the old style STT design (old school mud tire)...this is my second set on the screw...had one set on my tacoma and one set of the old style on my tacoma...im averaging around 45,000-47,000 to a set on the new ones...once they start wearing they can start to hum though so if your looking for quiet i would look elsewhere...ive got no complaints whatsoever though - they have increased in price since they came out though - they were originally really cheap compared to most name brand mts, but now most dealers in my area are charging 300+ a tire for 33x12.50x17, when that used to go for around 265 to 275 a tire... check my gallery for pics - the older pics are the STT in a 285/70/17, the newer pics are a true 33x12.50x17 and no they dont rub...

i just got these on today..and they are pretty dang quiet and really smooth for a M/T. They do have a little hum, but it's nothing major. I havn't drove them past 60-65 mph but so far i have no vibrations, and the guy at action gator said he was really surprised how little weight they took to balance. I'll give you another update after the next rotation, but so far so good. Even drove them home in some pretty hard rain and they seemed to handle it dang good.
