I really don't see the point in 7 lugs. I always thought that 5 lugs was enough and six was pushing it. It's not like you have to worry about the inside of your wheels breaking off due to too much torque, unless you're in a top fuel drag racer.

It's not the power that requires it, it's the load...amirite?

yes, the load rating is why our trucks have 7 lugs lets see how that 5 lug truck fares when you put the payload our trucks are made for into it. Here in America bigger is always better

Here's to 7 lug'ers! Just traded 12 tons of asphalt work/ purchased a 2000 150 7700 with 65k on it for $8,000. It has some god awful 33 "swamp/squirrel crushers" on it. So far I do like the power in it compared to my 2003 150 4.6 w/ 200k on it.

Going to hook up and fill up the double axle Hawk dump trailer and see how it does with some weight on it.

I'm stoked to finely have a decent powered "man" truck.

Hey guys, whats up! I ended up getting a 7 lug 2000 f150 ext cab 4x4 with the 5.4L v8 a few months ago. It had 170k miles and needed a new tranny so I got it (for what I think is a steal!) for 1600$. 500$ tranny later and some new brakes all around and it's on the road driving great. I've seen a couple around town now that I've been looking for 'em, mostly yellow town trucks with the reg cab and long bed, but I saw one at home cheapo the other day just like mine (cept less rusty and with the chrome center caps). Are your trucks loud in the front end like mine is, though? This live axle set up seems friggin weird coming from an older 96 f150 with the manual lockout hubs, lol.

Baer, I'm surprised you ended up paying 8k for yours. I thought mine was worth at least 5 or 6k out front myself even with the high miles, but I've seen em around for ~4-5,000$ looking brand new with like 90k miles, ext cab 4x4 5.4 and everything, what gives? Anyways, I like the idea of the 7 lug 150, where you get most of the tow capacity of the 250 without having to buy into a huge beast of a truck if you really don't need it 24/7. My father might be using it to tow around his new (to him) bobcat or it might go out front 4,000$ b/o, who knows!

from all my research... this site included, 8k for my truck seemed under priced. My fellas down at the dealership thought it was a steal.

Any advice on what to look out for replacement wise, at 65k miles?

For the body style like mine, they made the "7700" series and a F250 LD (LD= light duty). For the newer body style (not brand new) they also made vehicles with the 7 lugs. I know even around my area there are at least 2 other trucks like mine, and 2 with the standard cab. Kinda fun seeing them out there.

Side note - at least with the newer body style you can find an assortment of wheels

Another 7 lugger checking in. I have an '04 4x4 scab 8' box lariat. When was the last time you saw one of those in a Lariat? Yes they did make a few in 04 mostly in the Canadian market which is where I bought mine.

I gave up looking for 7 lug wheels. I looked extensively for years. I think I know of every 7 lug wheel ever made. Just wasn't crazy about any of them. Finally ended up putting "wheel skins" on my ugly steel rims and believe it or not, they're not too bad.

There's a handfull of wheels (IMO) that really look good on these trucks (particularly in the off road style) and I never could understand why they couldn't take just one of these wheels and make it into a 7 lugger.

When your a 7 lugger, your kind of like a "red headed step child" especially when it comes to wheels and suspension. Nobody really cares about your "needs" and half of the people you talk to never even knew they existed.

But in spite of all that, I'm still proud to be a 7 lugger!!!! (Just wish someone would make a decent wheel!)

Figgy
