285/70/17 or 305/65/17?

just curious to which one you would recommend? i have 285s now, all the 305 is is a little wider correct? will that still work on my stock setup? rim size is 17x8 and 4.5" of backspacing

285's, the other ones are a bit shorter or same just wider so in my opinion not worth it. I'd go 305/70/17's if anything. Toyo interests me with a 285/75/17 M/T, Height of the 305/70/17 yet width of a 285. A mud tire though but it might be cool to try. I'm at a similar point as you from what I've read, seem unsure and hesitant to stray from the 285/70/17 as am I. If Goodyear came out with a 305/70/17 tire in Wrangler Silent Armor and not just MT/R, I'd be all over it. I might do Nitto's or the Toyo M/T as mentioned. I'm pretty sure I'm going up in size next time with the t-bar crank.

305s... I think the wider stance also makes them look bigger and more boss

Figure you already have 285s, Are you happy with them or do u want bigger/wider?

Both are approximately 33 inches tall. The 305's are just around and inch wider. Both will fit/look fine. Personally, I'd go with the 305's.

Wider tire means more rolling resistance which = More gas consumption! I'll stick with my 285's which are plenty wide!

I have 33x12.5 **** Cepeks and went from the stock 265/70s and only noticed about a 1 mpg loss...very little at all. I'd say if you like the wider look go for it.

You'd probably have to trim a little. I have 305/70-17's on 17x9's w/ 4 5/8" b.s and I had to trim some.
