tire pressure in new 315/75/16 tires

I just went from 285/75/16 BFG mud terrains to 315/75/16 Pro comp xterrians. They are load range D & the only pressure reading I could find on the tire sidewall was (50 psi cold). Im assuming this is a max pressure reading. Normally there is "max" on the sidewall for pressure ratings.....
I ran 40psi at all 4 corners on my BFG's & inflated the rears to 50psi when I was towing my travel trailer, all with great wear results. The shop that mounted & balanced the tires recommend that i run these Pro comps at 50psi all the time on the street. Does this sound correct? im looking for daily use street pressures & also towing pressures. I appreciate the input!

Run them at 40. They are similar to LR C with a max of 50. Unless your are overloading your vehicle, you do not need to bump them up to 50 when towing, even your old ones did not need that.

Thanx for the info, I thought adding the extra pressure was the right thing to do when towing my 30" travel trailer that weighs as much as my truck. Think i should remain to do the same with the new tires or just keep them at 40psi all the time? i do appreciate your help!

If not overloading the GAW/GVW/GCW, you probably don't need to add any. If you feel better about doing that, do so. It probably isn't necessary, but will not hurt. It may help a little with sidewall flex.
