I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find it...

I have a 05 FX4, no lift, stock rims. stock tires are 275-65-18
the guy at the tire place says Ford doesn't recommend putting 285-65-18s on (BFGoodrich All Terrains)

you guys know why there would be a problem with those?

First I've ever heard of this. Sounds like the tire guy's full of bs.

 

I agree, you can easily fit a 285x65x18 on a stock 7 1/2 inch wide wheel. Get another tire man.

 

Probably because BFG recommends an 8-11" wide rim.
