F150's & Aftermarket Wheels

I've read all the posts I can find on the steering wheel nibble. Along with with my experiences, I have come to the conclusion that these trucks were not set up to run anything but OEM wheels, if you'd rather have the smooth ride than the good looks of an aftermarket wheel. Have read where some have no problems at all and others are pullin their hair out just tryin to get a balance. Others are just livin with it. Not me. Goin back to stock and stayin there. Want my caddy ride back.

I have to disagree with you on that . I just got 295/70/17 Nitto terra grapplers and I do not have any nibble. Before these I got about 50000 miles out of set of Dunlops. No nibble. I think with a quality wheel and tire there is not much problem.

I'm happy for you. You are among the no problems group. A friend of mine just bought an 08 with the 20's and Scorpion tires. They have changed her tires twice and she still has the nibble. Maybe its a hit or miss on whether you get 1 that has the problem or not.

What is nibble? Also, you selling your aftermarket wheels? I don't need tires, just wheels.

I agree with you. OEM wheels usually have minimal run-out and pretty well balanced form the factory (or should I say vendor). I think you have a better chance of things being "right" if you stick with factory wheels.

BTW Blue150 "nibble" usually refers to steering wheel nibble. When the steering wheel vibrates but you usually don't feel vibration in the seat and floorboard.

Number one cause of steering wheel nibble seems to be wheels/tires out of balance. But other things or a combination of other things can cause it. If your in balance and there is no run-out or "out of roundness" on your wheels or tires, it can be very difficult to pinpoint the cause.

I think I resd somewhere here that the Steering Stabilizers would'nt work on an 07. If that would solve my problem i would jump on it.

marlin39d...I Have put my stockers back on twice while my rims and tires were being exchanged and they rode smooth as silk at any speed.

Blue150...if i can find a nice set of stock 18's the Thunders will be for sale. You be interested???

My aftermarket wheel's and tires track a lot better than my stocker's. No pulling to the right and no nibble. Also a lot better traction and durability too!

As long as I keep it under 55 mine do great also. But like the song I can't drive 55 neither can I...LOL. I get a lot of comments on the wheels but after 3 or 4 hrs. of freeway drivin I'm beginning to hate them with a passion. Have had them to every shop around here and the balance only lasts about a month then its right back to the same ole crap. Marked the weights last time so I could be positive I was'nt throwing one. I believe I'm jinxed.

nibble? are we talking about steering wheel vibration from imbalanced tires? Or is this an issue other than wheels/tires? Can't this just as well be corrected by having the wheels/tires balanced properly?

I'm rolling on 35" Toyo MT and 20" Procomp 7005, and I don't have any "nibble" at highway speeds.

It happens between 60 and 70. Do a search for steering nibble and you'll find more info on it. Every shop I've taken it to don't know what they're doin would be the only other explanation for the problem I'm havin. Hard to believe they could all be incompetent.

Go for it I can drive 65 and let wheel go and no prob. It is 30 min install. If that does not work your rims are crap

I checked Fabtech website and they don't list one for an 07. So I'm assuming they don't make 1 for my truck or they won't fit. I thought Ultra wheels were a good wheel. First set would'nt fit (17's). So I finally got a set of 18's after much complaining. Maybe the wheels are trash. Anyone else runnin Ultra's with good results??

Drove 60 miles 1 way today that a buddy of mine swears is the best guy for balancing. 20 bucks and he sent me on my way. Its the first time she really felt smooth. Don't know if it will last cause the others didn't but I got my fingers crossed.
