265's vs 285's

hello all, been a while since i was on here!! I am getting new tires soon. I have 265'70'17 on my 2004 f150 4x4. I installed the autosprings 2.5 level kit last October. What is the actual size difference between the 265 and the 285/70/17? I have only had this truck a year. My old truck had 38x15.50s on it so I am wanting to go a little bigger because I miss the big truck. But I don't miss the gas mileage and the constand maintenence of a truck that size!! I don't think the 285's will rub or anything either. let me know what you all think.

265/70/17 is roughly a 31.5x10.5x17

285/70/17 is roughly a 33x11.5x17

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp is a great tool

I'd put a little larger tire say a 295x70x17 Nitto Terra Grappler to fill out the wells on a leveled 4x4. Just my 2 cent's.

Thanks for the input, hey PawPaw, little off subject but i see you have the flow 40 exhaust. How does it sound? Do you have two mufflers or just one into a Y. I am also going to be doing exhaust in the future and have always had straight pipes but not wanting to be that loud anymore!

285s will be wider so your economy will be better with 265s, but 285s will perform and look much better.

Go with Super 44s over 40 series muffler(s), Super 44s sound much better, and flow much better than the choking 40 series. Off topic I know

I have the SIDO 40 and love it. Has a deep throaty sound. Instead of choking, it does flow too freely. There is too little backpressure, so you lose some low end torque. I love the sound!

I've got the single in dual out with 3 1/2" tip's out the back. I like the way it sound's, loud when you mash down but fairly quiet at crusing speed's.

Sure the 40 series sounds good, never said it didn't, just the Super 44 sounds better and flows easier.

40 Series

Super 44
