Largest possible spare tire

Hi all.... im wondering if anyone has ever tried to mount a 35" tire under the truck as a spare tire? im not worried about it being a full width tire, but i would like to get the 35" diameter if it will fit..... rough measurements say it would be very tight at best..... anyone try it? if so, then did you use a 35" or metric equivalent?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about the 04-08's but you can fit a 35 inch spare on a 97-03 unless you have routed a custom exhaust in the way.

What size should i try to go with? i want to keep it as skinny as possible, and fit my stock 17" wheel. im guess a metric size is needed, but im not sure which one.

I had a 285 75 R17 under my truck before it got ripped off doing some mudding. It was a pretty tight fit and rubbed the hitch. I don't know if you could squeak 35" in there if you have a hitch, but you can always try. If it's just a spare I would suggest getting the same height tire, but narrow.

Good luck!
