BFG Sidewall Question?? help

When you look on tirerack.com at the BFG At's 285/70/17 what is the difference between the the sidewall with the black lettering cause it says not rated for severe snow conditions and the sidewall with raised white lettering that is rated for severe snow conditions? cause the price difference is $30?

I looked into the website and could not see this pic you say. I have worked in a tire shop for over 7 years and all i could suggest is that maybe they are 2 different load ratings, i have also seen blemish tires, for example they forget to add something to the design of it. Theres no structural deffect just cosmetic send me a link to the exact page if you can

The BFG web site does not have them flagged that way. My guess is a glitch at tirerack. Not the first I have seen.

See the notes at the bottom. None are flagged as not for severe snow.

Yeah Kingfish is right its a glitch or typo error, the only difference between them is that one has white letters and the other doesnt and thats why there is a price difference as well

More than likely the tires with the "severe snow" rating are made up of a softer compound so they are still pliable at colder temperatures. They may also be prepped for the installation of studs.
