Tires on stock rim? How big can I go?
I have a 2006 F150 STX 4X4 with stock 17 X 7.5 rims on. At this time, I'm looking to just upgrade the tires for winter that will last me a while until I can do a real lift or a leveling kit and then throw on 33's or 35's on it. On that stock rim, how wide and tall can I go with out rubbing? The stock size is a : LT255/70R17. I know I can run a LT265, no problem, but can I run a
LT285/70R17 without rubbing issues? The LT285 does fit on a 7.5 wide rim but I don't know with the offset if it will rub the inside or outside to much? Has anyone done this and had no problems?

Thanks for the insight. I put my hands behind the top of the tire and felt around, it seemed like I might rub on a sway bar or upper arm but I think I'll probably run LT265/70R17 on the stockers for now and then upgrade with a leveling kit later on so I can run 33's, or add a body lift to run 35's. Thanks for the knowledge guys
