hi my abs light came on the other day and just for fun i pulled codes off my programmer and got one 'p1000' something about the obd system test not complete. could it be a sensor or what. its just annoying havin that light on. any help would be great thanks

 

I've had my ABS light come on for the past couple of years.
It always goes off at the next start up .

It comes on when accelerate too hard in a turn.
I call it my 'bad driving' light.

Probably a finicky sensor.

 

yea probably is just annoying it bein on all the time

 

if the abs light comes on and stays on does that mean the abs doesn't function if the sensor is bad? mine did the same thing, would come on then off but now it stays on all the time. i did notice a difference in braking once avoiding an accident in front of me.

 

mine is stayin on and i noticed no difference in braking even though i only have rear abs because mine is a 97. if its a bad sensor where is it and i'll replace it soon

 

my abs light also started coming on recently, but does not come on immediately. i was thinking it is also a sensor going bad, but i really have no idea. Anyone else have any experience with this?

 

Seeing you have a 97, I'd say guaranteed it's the rear diff ABS sensor located on the top of the housing. It's about 20 bucks and usually gets gummed up with gear oil crap. Mine went a few months ago and prompted me to change the rear end dope too. Couple bottles of Royal Purple and some Ford friction modifier = healthy diff too.

 

k thanks i'll go get the sensor and the stuff to change my diff fluid it needs to change anyways
