Getting new rims and tires...Finally!

Well, it has finally happened that I am able to get the rims and tires. I need some feedback though before I make my decision. I have decided to get the moto metal 951's in chrome and change my theme from black and blue to black and chrome.

I want the new rims to stick out a little more than stock since I have a 2wd. What I want to get are the 17x9's with 295x70x17 Toyo MT's but I would be willing to bet they will rub. So, I think if I can push them out a bit, I might be better off. I am not dead set on 17's so if I need to go up in size, let me know. If you have a 2wd with the 17" 951's and 295/70/17 tires, please post a picture.
My ultimate goal is to end up with the widest possible 33" tire I can fit on my truck. Stock 2WD with a 2.5AS and 1" FX2 blocks in the rear. I don't want a tall skinny tire.
Suggestions?

I think you are gonna need a lot more backspacing to fit 33's. I'd go with a 8 to 9 inch wide wheel with around 5.5 inches of backspacing personally.

How far do you think that will stick out vs stock?

A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of bs is gonna stick out 2.5 inches farther than the oem 17 and 18 inch wheels which are 7.5 inches wide and have 5.5 inches of bs.

Ok, another question. Look at the tires on this truck in this thread. Would these rims with 295/70/17's instead of the 305's fit on my 2wd?

I doubt it. They look like they stick out a good bit. They may fit with 285/70-17's.

Then I am confused. If they stick out a good bit, would this not stop any rubbing issues? I am not concerned with them sticking out as I have plans to get some flares.

Would 295/70/17 Toyo MT's fit on my stock wheels with no rubbing? I only ask because of the sidewall lugs. Here is my truck.

This is stock. I have a 2.5AS on it now.

It's all about compromise. If you have too much bs, the tires tuck in and hit the frame and control arms. If don't have enough bs, the wheels stick out too far and rub the bumpers and wheelwells.

Ok, that helps. Alot. So a wheel with 6" of BS will stick out further than a wheel with 4.53"? providing both are 17x9's. Is this correct?

Wandell,
What about these? with the 295/70/17 Toyo MT's?

I looked at these once before but I think I would be better off putting nitto tg's on them. I think the agressive MT would look stupid on that wheel. thoughts?

I found this. The guy (jwilliams) hasn't posted since 2007 but this is what I am looking for. 2005 4x2. These are 17x9 951's and 285/70/17 Procomp AT's. I like the look. I am going for this but in black 951's. Is a 295 wider or taller than a 285?
