40s or 38s on 24s

I joined this site to get everyones opinions on some lift , tires, etc. questions. The ones that IF22 is bashing gave me the most info. (thanks Mercedes Tech, chaz150, trim and many more) I think he joined the wrong forum. I am sorry if I offended anyone also with my comments. I am in Riverview Fl right now Dirtbound and Good Ole Boy.

I'd hate to bring this post back from the dead, but I never got to throw in my 2 cents about wheels and tires... I'm only running 35" Toyos on 20" Pro Comp 7005s and I love the look, plus I get compliments all the time. Honestly, it all depends on your wheel/tire choice. If my wheels were chrome, I think it might look a little different on 35"s but my wheels are black, so it works out. Aside from color, the design and negative space of the wheels plays an important part as to whether or not they look proportioned. Wheels that have too much space that you can "see through" the spokes don't look very rugged IMO.
On a different note... I've seen a lot of 18" and smaller rims that were far from suited to an "off-road" look. Btw, since when is chrome rugged or off-roady? You might have a bit more in common with your "bros" than you think. lol.. Heck, almost all of your rims look flashier than my wheels, and my truck is practically strictly a pavement pounder. Not trying to bash here, I love chrome wheels too, but just don't throw flashy "street" wheels on an "off-road" truck.
So yea, you can easily run 20"s on a lifted truck and still make it look good, you just have to be able to match it all up, it's all about proportioning.
But who am I to say whats cool or not... you be the judge

This thread is hilarious.
Some of these "immature" kids need to learn some respect about bashing senior members of this forum who have a lot more knowledge and experience then they do.
Anyways I'll throw my 2 cents in too....I love lifted truck, wish I still had one, but 24" are just way too big, like others said, won't look proportional. I have 24's right now on my street queen-look nice but ride like crap!!! The biggest I think you should ever go is 20's on lifted rigs...22's are pushing it but if you got the money for bigger rubber then whatever.
I had 20's on 37" Nitto Mud Grapplers on my old 150 which I miss dearly. I like my truck now but every day I see a lifted truck I kick myself for buying a 2x4. Let me say one thing, I also use to have 18's on 35" BFG Mud Terrains on the old rig & the 20's on 37"s rode better on the pavement (although they are VERY loud) and they handled a lot better off road...which I DID in fact do, as much as I could.
