Questions about backspacing and rim size mostly about kmc rockstars..................
I own 20x8.5" motto mt100 rims and I was reading one of my other threads and found out that my rims won't work if I get a rough country suspension lift. I'm thinking about a suspension lift and thinking that rough country is what I'm going with.
Rough Country recommends an 8 inch wide wheel sooo what does this mean for me? Does this mean if I want to lift my truck I'm going to have to sell my rims and get new ones just to lift my truck? If this is true this definately sucks.
If I put bilstein 5100's in the front at the 2" setting and get some 35x12.5"s I'll be fine with my current rims? Right?
About the rockstars now. If I want to lift my truck and I DO HAVE TO GET NEW RIMS, what would you guys suggest go with 18"s or 20"s in the rockstars.
Anybody with pictures of rockstars in any size would help.
Whats the right size of backspacing for a rim if I would like to get the 6" Rough Country kit?

The bilsteins and 35's will be fine. I have a 2.5" spacer and 35" Pro Comp extreme A/T's with minimal rubbing. Since money is tight for me also I think I might do a body lift, but im not sure yet. If they are done right they can look great and I dont do a lot of off-roading.

Other people have already told you this. If you lift it 6" you will need new wheels.
If you buy the rancho kit you can probably keep your current wheels.
Bilsteins and 35's will be fine as long as you don't have more than 5.5" backspacing. I've seen pictures of 35's on stock wheels and the tire comes within about 1/4" of the ball joint in a lot of cases. Sounds like you need to figure out the specs on your wheels. Why don't you just pull one off and measure the backspacing so you know for sure?

1.rough country recommends a 4.5 inch backspace.
2. you can use the bilsteins and run 35's.
3. 18's or 20's is just preference. tires are similar in prices and rims are usually maybe 50 bucks more in price. i'd go 20's, that what i'm rolling on and i love it.

yes but your gonna have to run a 20x10 with a 4.5 backspace, the 20x8.5's have a 6.17 backspace. so they are gonna stick out real far, a good 3 inches past the fenders, not a real issue unless the coppers by you are **** about regulations. i got 20x10 on my truck and the fronts stick out 2 inches past the bushwackers.
