Question TPMS question(yes another one)

The other thread got me thinking...I have an 04 FX4. The stock wheels are long gone, but I do have a set of the stock 20" OEM rims. I did notice that the wheels had the monitors inside. How do I know if my truck is equipped with the actual system in the computer?

I would assume there would be a warning light on your dash when you switch your ignition on if you have the TPMS

Oh ok. Well, I guess I have TPMS wheels and no TPMS on the truck. Oh well. Thanks!

+1 Some other makes and models had them before but the gov't mandated a percentage prior to Sept of '07 but after then all vehicles are supposed to have a TPMS.

"Phase-in started in October 2005 at 20%, and reached 100% for models produced after September 2007." says the oh so reliable wiki

Not that I have ever seen. It was mandated in 07 on the F150, but to my knowledge was never an option. Who would pay for something like that.

your right, i just checked the options and it seems it was never a factory option. actually i am going to get the TPMS on my new hauler, nice for that IMO. keep an eye on the wheels i can't see nor feel, and prevent an additonial tire blowout from being overloading 1 tire.

My 04 FX4 didn't have it until I put one of our Hella systems in.

I have an 07 and accidentally fixed mine. I put on new wheels without swapping the TPMS sensors. Blinking light drove me nuts. I recently installed an FX4 cluster from a 2006 without TPMS. No more light.

The FX4 ODO is off by 19k. Going to see about getting it adjusted.
