How do you folks afford these tires

Yikes. I priced out 4 BFG 305/65/17 AT KO and about slid out of my chair. My wife would shoot me in both legs and take my truck away from me in the blink of an eye if I paid that for tires. Any one recommend something close to the BFG's without the price tag? I hunt in the fall in Ohio so I need something somewhat aggressive without being a mud tire. I am installing a 2" leveling kit in the coming week and would like either a 305/65/17 or a 285/70/17. I priced out the General Grabber AT/2 and they are in my price range (about $125-175 a tire) but I cannot find the size I want anywhere. Anyone have any input?

Check out ebay man, I have usually always found the lowest deals there. Pro comp has some good tires, Cooper seems to have a decent Aggressive tire. I think I found a set of theres for 650 bucks for 4 tires lol I think it was a mistype but maybe the tire just sucks. My wife had a set of Coopers on her Jetta they were probley the best looking tire but damn they worn out quick. My buddie was looking into Pro Comps for a 17 tire I think we ended up finding the cheapest was like 148 a tire with free shipping so I dunno its up to you but I agree that 1800 bucks for a set of tires, unless you absolutely need them like our fine brothern that live up north and travel in snow. looking at all those snow pics with those 37's and 35's ah they kill me.

These are only 265's but they're cheaper and have a nice aggressive look.

WIth tires, you usually get what you pay for. I've found it better to pay more for a set of quality tires that will last 60,000 miles than to buy a set of cheap tires that are seperatiing and vibrating after 20,000 miles.

At the risk of giving away a secret source, check out Jovando tires in Houston. They have an ebay store selling used tires and I've found some great deals on takeoffs and lightly used tires, getting a set of 4 for less than $500. A buddy of mine who's been out of work for about a year just bought a set for $250. Not brand new but in great shape.
AND the offer free shipping!
•AND no sales tax if out of state!

find some guy with new sweet tires.... and steal em.

Work side jobs. Give up free time. Stop playing. Work. Work on days off. Work at night. Enough time to sleep when your dead. Work. Work. Work.

Sell old random stuff laying around. Ebay and craiglist have given me hundreds if not more. Old stuff was collecting dust anyways, might as well get some coin for it.

Check out Firestone Destination AT's. They're reasonable, and they'll suit your needs nicely.

Funny you mention the Destinations because I was just looking at them. Do they make a 305/65/17 in a Destination AT? Tire Rack has the 285/70/17 but then they jump to a 315/70/17, anyone know who carries (if anyone) the size I'm looking for?

my theory is "a 4x4 is only as good as the tires it rides on" and you so get what you pay for. BFG is a very popular tire for a reason, good price, solid white letters (i love that) great tread pattern, and you will get your money out of them.

Try the Bridgestone REVO. They are a very good tire and with below coupon very reasonably priced. I just picked up set of 285/70/17 for $587 mounted, roadforce balanced(my truck is very picky),and with tax.

The Revo does very good in the rain and in the snow. They are still pretty good off road and got me through a lot of mud in my previous truck but just not BFG AT good. They are also good for 50,000 miles(on my Ranger I got about 60k out of a set)

here's the coupon but you would have to hurry the special ends on the first.

I think you should look at Nitto Terra Grapplers in a 295/70/17 size. They are about a 33 inch tire and you can go to ebay and buy 2 at a time for 375 dollars from Discount Tire with free shipping. I have them and love the look and ride with 2 inch lift in front. I still have not took pics with new tires . Boyd

Hey thanks for the website link for the coupon. My sister needed some tires bad with this Indiana weather. Did you ever sell the wheel setup you had for sale.
