Question Best tire for the $$$$

I have a 2005 XLT Screw,It ate up the stock continentals in 27,000 miles.I'm out of work and want to make sure the tires I put on are quality and not overpriced.I don't drive hard and as you can see low mileage.I'm looking at 255/70 r17 any opinion is appreciated thank you.

In your size you can try Cooper AT/R Tires or Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S They are priced reasonably and consumer reports rated them 63 for the Cooper & 73 for the Yokohamas. Good luck with your search.

Lucky you mine are bald at just shy of 15K. Out of work also, so using my tax return

Though mine are 233/70/17 I think, Im gonna try to get a wider tire.

cooper zeon ltzs are priced right and look great IMO. You can go as big as 33' inches in them!

If you want a pure street tire, the General Grabber UHPs from Discount Tire is a good competitor for the price. Not sure if they have them in the size you are looking for.

As far as street tires, my brother got 60K out of the Falcon Ziex's. He liked getting sideways and peeling out alot too. You can get them at Discount Tire and they are pretty cheap.

Good choice! I have always had good luck with BFG tires (P or LT).

I hope they are the AT KO's and not the Long Trails. I only had about 20K on my Long Trails and they were about shot.

Just purchased a new set of Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 tires for my 2005. The tires in your size would run $130 per tire from discount tire direct w/free shipping for P-rated tires. If you wanted to move up to LT tires you would need to incrase the size to 265/70/17 which are $154 per tire.

I've been really impressed with these tires. Previously I ran the crappy OEM tires, and upgraded to Toyo Open Country A/T on my trucks. These Hankook tires really perform well and have exceeded my expectations in the New England winter. They are quiet on the road and handle really well. Of course since they are new it's hard to guess what mileage I'll get out of them.

Just wanted to throw another possibility in the hat. I should mention, that the tires I'm running are 10 ply LT tires
