Rear brakes

I just replaced my rear pads at 84000. They were completely gone. The front however still has a pretty good bit of pad left. Shouldn't the front do most of the stopping and wear quicker? Anyone else have the rears wear faster than the front?

What year is the truck? Did you buy it used or new?

Generally, it is 2 sets on the front to one on the back. BUT, it could be that the back had never been replaced.

If it were mine, I would go ahead and change the fronts as well, due to age... JMO

That is good mileage to get out of ANY set of pads.

Your fronts could be crystallized, and not working to potential.

Are you happy with the braking power? Is it the same as it was the day you bought it? I think I would still change them, but, that's just me.

I was planning on doing just that. I might go ahead and change the front this weekend. I really didn't notice any improvement after changing the rear. I will let you know if there is a change with new front pads. If there has been any decline in stopping power it has been so gradual I haven't noticed. Thanks

Yea, if the front pads are shinny, then they are crystallized, and, not grabbing like they are supposed to. That would explain why they are not wearing like the back. It happens alot.
