Caliper replacement?
Hi Guys, I have an '04 F150 and had to replace both the front calipers. One at 85K and the other went at about 92K. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem. i have never had a vehicle that had a bad caliper, nevermind both of them within a year.
Thanks,
Craig

there is a TSB on 04's and some early 05's, built to the 11/29/04 cut off date, that had improperly vented rotors. My rotors had some very minor stress cracks (due to heat), so i got new rotors (my 05 build date was before 11/29) and they were supposed to replace the calipers also but didnt. The heat build up due to the venting issue, could damage the calipers. So i think the TSB said to replace the calipers "just in case" there was excessive heat transfered to the calipers. All this to say i'm suprised you went that far. Now i have replaced my right front caliper,(22k miles) with rebuilt one from NAPA. It seemed to be dragging, but not enough to cause excessive heat or warpage. The left front is fine so far. I am going to order a factory set from "new take offs", and keep my "old ones" for spares. BTW,,,i have a copy of that TSB. My .02 worth.....rossford
