Towing with 18's

Hi Guys!
I guess I am a newbie in the whole truck scene. I bought my first truck today a 2005 Ford F150 supercrew 2wd. I love the truck! I test drove every truck I could compare it to and this was the best in my opinion.
The reason for me buying the truck is to tow my fox body drag car. I am sure the 5.4 is strong enough to do this. My question is that the tires are the 265/60/18 sized tires and they are a standard load range tire. They are the BFG long trail original equipment. Should I be concerned to tow with these tires?
I have searched everywhere and it seem like no one make a load range c in this size. Is there any other size I can use besides the 265/60/18's?

Thanks!

Hmmm..... I guess I am not looking to put monster tires on. Let me ask another question Would the 4x4 18" tires fit this truck? i think they are 275/70/18's.

The 4wd factory tires are 275/65/18 and yes they will fit. You can get up to an E load range in this size.

You might look for a tire that is LT (Light Truck). I've got Michelin LTX/At2s. This is denoted before the size and means that the tire has a stronger sidewall and is better suited for towing. They say they dont ride as good as passenger tires but I can't tell that much of a difference...

I know the whole LT designation. The problem I am having is that in the 265/60/18 OE size there is none. I really couldn't believe that they don't make it in this size since it is on trucks. weird?

I may just go with the 275/65/18's since there are alot more to choose from. Downside it my speedo is going to be off

You can get the speedo fixed at the dealership. You can get Load Range E BFG AT KO's in a 265/65/18 which would be about an inch taller than stock.

Thanks guys! This was really helpful. I think the BFG's is what I am going with.

I will certainly comeback with updates.

Thanks again!
