2wd w/leveling tires and gears
This may have been asked but it's a pretty unique question and I trust people with more knowledge than me. I've leveled my 2008 2wd screw and would like to go to bigger tires. It currently has 255/60 R18 (30") tires and a 3.55 ratio. I tow a boat and the 3.55 just doesn't really cut it. Also, my city mileage is awful (13ish vs 19 on the highway). Were I not changing tire sizes I'd just go to the 3.73. However, I want to go to something like the standard fx4 tires (275/65 R18 [32"]). According to my calculations the 3.73 would end up being about a 3.5 ratio with the 2" taller tires. Should I go with the 4.1 instead and have about a 3.84 ratio instead? What will the effect on my fuel economy be? The tires add only 20 pounds of weight so that should be too much of a problem. Also, what is the biggest size tire you can put on a leveled 2wd without it filling up too much of the wheel well (I realize that's in the eye of the beholder but most people go for about the same look around here). I know that's a lot of info. Any help would be greatly appreciated, particularly to the gear ratios.
Thanks!
Thanks!
