help.. please :(

Alright, so lets just star tthis by sayin please leave the "your fault stupid" comments outta here lol... thats the last thing i wanna hear right now!

so heres the deal.. 07 f150 stx..i ran 2.5" level kit w/ 33s for a year. Finally saved up and got 35's and a 6" lift. Mounted up the 35's to my aftermarket wheels, bought the lift, was all excited, etc.

Installed front of the lift today..

aaaaanddd......fail. the tires rub the knuckles. bad.. lift says recommended back spacing of 4.5 - 5

i checked before online and i could have swore my back spacing was like 4.63 so i thought ok i will be good to go..

well i checked again today..and i dont know what I was looking at or what happened but whatever.. they are 6.18. Not so good..

Don't know what to do. Other than be totaaaly bummed out (and without a truck til i figure stuff out)

I even put the stock wheels back on (still w/ stock tires) and they clear by just a hair.. but i refuse to drive aroun with stock tires w/ a 6" lift!! it wont leave my driveway like that

anyways.. should i get some kind of spacers? should i suck it up and buy new wheels? dont know if spacers will do any kind of damage or have any negative affects.. but i know what i have right now plain and simple wont work. also if I get spacers, i'm sure my tires will stick out a lot then? I don't like that look.. i don't want my tires sticking wayy out.

any advice...? anyone want to kick me in the face or something? Talk about frustrated and bummed out.

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks

If possible, I'd probably take the front end of the lift off and put the 35" tires on and just enjoy it like that for awhile until you can get different wheels or something else figured out.

I run 35's on my 2" leveling kit and they fit no problem. If you didn't have to cut or weld anything with the install, I'd probably just put the wheels and tires on and take the lift off for the time being.

Just my thoughts though.

12 hours or so installing just the front, noo wayyy! plus there was some cutting.. so i dont think its even an option.

i might be able to afford to get some new wheels if i have to.. im thinking its probably my only choice.. not really many things i can do i guess?

buying good quality spacers are not cheap, you might as well buy new rims and sell the ones you got. you can easily spend 250 bucks + on a good set of spacers. you can buy some cheap *** ones from ebay to get ya by, but i have run spacers like this on my foreman and exploded them, so on my truck NEVER, but you can do what you want.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel...Q5fAccessories

you can put the stock parts back on if you needed to, the cutting of the crossmember can be reversed. nothing a welder can't fix.

thanks for the link.. i think im going to suck it up and order some new wheels. sucks i just mounted the other ones the other day.... that was a waste of $100!!!! ay yi yi.

the lift recommends 8" wheel... 4.5 - 5 for backspacing..

any recommendations on what i should target for the new wheels? The BFG's 315/70/17 recommend 8.5 - 9" tire.. should i get an 8 or 9 inch wheel?

thanks for the help

I'd go with a 9" wheel with 5 inches of backspacing. This is the most common wheel size for a lifted truck.

yeah a 9 inch wheel with 4.5 should give it a nice wide stance.

sry for the stupid newb questions but as i leanred i better make sure i figure all this out first...

i did find some 17 x 9's i like.. 4.5 BS...

how much would those stick out? i've got the rough country 6" lift..315/70/17 BFG's...

i dont want them sticking out far.. but im guessing those might stick out like 2.5" ?

thx for the help man

i really had heart set on xd's but it was either go 5.2 on BS w/ the 8" rims, or 9" with 4.5. The 4.5 would stick out too much and i dont think 5.2 will clear everything..

so im leaning towards ballistic, 5" bs, 17x9. I think that will stick out a tiny bit and look the way i want to.. i just hope the rims look like im hoping? lol..

i have 4.5 inches of backspacing with just a leveling kit.

a lifted truck without the tires sticking out looks stupid, go with 4.5 and get narrower tires if you're that worried about them sticking out.

otherwise, drive around with a good looking lifted truck with the tires sticking out the way they should be!

A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of bs will stick out 2.5 inches farther than the OEM wheels. A 9 inch wide wheel with 5 inches of bs will stick out 2 inches farther than stock.
