Yet another tire fitment ?

Yet another tire fitment ?
The guy from the 4x4 shop told me I may not be able to fit a set of 285/70/17's on my new wheels I just ordered. I ordered a set of 17x9 DC1's (polished). They have 4.53 inches of backspacing and -12 mm offset. Will I have issues fitting 285's? The guy at the 4x4 shop said I may need torsion keys up front and blocks out back (at a tune of $900).

You were given some misinformation. You can easily fit that cobo. You may have to trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower plastic valance for clearance.
Also, the reindexed aftermarket torsion bar adjustment keys are one of the worst ideas ever. I would immediately suspect any information given by someone that suggested you buy them.

I got the 16x10 DC's on 305's and just turned the torsion bars and trimmed the plastic bumper a little. Wandell's right those keys are a waste of time and money. Got pics in my gallery of the tires fitting fine.
Here a up close shot. I noticed you also have mud flaps up front, I had to take mine off cause the tires tired to rip them off on the drive home from the tire shop

Thanks Wandell and 4x4wolf.
I have a question about cranking the t-bars, I cranked mine and only got about 1 inch of additional height (that was 3 turns and they wouldn't go anymore). With the t-bars cranked, whenever I hit a pot hole or a speed bump too fast, I get a pretty loud bang, is this what its like to drive with the t-bars cranked? I also read that some guys are getting 2 to 2.5 inches of lift by cranking their t-bars, I only got an inch.

Every truck is adjusted differently. Increasing the preload will make the initial portion of the suspension's travel slightly stiffer. It also limits you down travel the more you crank them up. What you are hearing could be the suspension topping out and hitting the bumpstop. Or maybe you have a problem like a missing bumpstop or a bad shock.
