ABS Fail

99 4.6 2wd

My abs light is on, and just the regular brakes are working Abs is not.

Is it just the replacement of the sensor or do you think its more than that.

Any ideas or steps would be appreciated

Thanks

My ABS light was coming on. I went to Napa & purchased the abs sensor for about $20.00. Changed it out in 5 minutes. (Removed from the top of the rear differential.)

I don't have a pic of the sensor, but it's the only thing on the differential that plugs into the chasisis wiring harness. When I had the same problem, the wire harness was cut near the differential. I spliced in some new wire and covered the splices with a new piece of wire loom I bought from Murray's.

Hey man i have a thread started about the same thing

https://www.f150online.com/forums/wh...-couple-s.html

The sensor can not be missed it just about the rear diff where the d/s inserts into the diff.

It's probably pretty dirty there and it has a connector that should be un-clipped and then it's just 10mm bolt towards the back of the sensor.

I pulled mine and it read 1900 ohms so i think mine is bad.

Dealer wants $34 for it so i'll check napa instead.

Here's a great link:

Thanks guys, slight problem, the bolt was so seized on i tried very carefully to take it off and i rounded off the head of that bolt. Any ideas on how to remove this small bolt????
