305/40/22 or 285/35/22 on a 10.5 wide rim?

Been searching for tires and didnt really come up with anything for lowpro tires, just everything is large tires when searching for tire sizes that will fit rims.

Basically I dont want the balloon tire look. I want the sidewall of the tire to be flush with the outer edge of the rim.

I am correct in converting the 305 and 285 to inches? So a 285(11.22 in inches) is closer to fitting a 10.5 rim?

Ive dealt with cars in the past and basically 215-225 is what Ive usually run on a 19x8 rim so this truck sizing is all new to me.

Any insight would be appreciated.

i would go 305/40's, i have 285/45/22 on my Pathfinder and the side wall kinda angles in towards the center of the tread.. the 305/40's should be a better fit

I'd go with 305/40-22's. I have 305/45-22's on my Expy using 22x9.5 inch wheels with 6.7 inches of backspacing. The edge of my tire/wheel is even with the edge of my front wheelwells.
