Lt tires for expedition?

Here is my story:
I need tires in the next few moths and have Cooper P265/70/17 tires on my 99 4WD Expedition. The tires have 4/32 tread depth in the center & 6/32 tread depth toward the edges. I keep the tire pressure at 35psi front & back. The door sticker says to keep 30psi for the front & 35psi for the rear. When I had 30psi up front my truck did not feel too safe. (Too much sway.)
Should this beast have LT tires?
Here is my info

1. Do not tow anything
2. Haul large loads inside occasionally
3. Want to have good handling
4. I live in the North East with Snow, Ice etc.
5. Drive my family around frequently
6. I want a semi smooth ride (I know it is a truck)
7. Off Road - sometimes

I am deciding on the following tires through my Father in-law’s Tire connection:

1. BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO LT265/70/17 Load Range C
$197.57 each mounted, balanced, valve stem & disposal
2. Cooper AT/R LT265/70/17 Load Range C
$169.21 each mounted, balanced, valve stem & disposal
3. Cooper AT/R P265/70/17 Load Range STD
$138.14 each mounted, balanced, valve stem & disposal

(Cooper does have a $50.00 rebate if purchased by the end of this month – for anyone interested)

So what do you think?
Thanks RH

(Sorry for the long post!

There is nothing wrong with having an LT tire on something that size. It will give you better handling. Cons would be a slightly rougher ride, and possibly a slight drop in gas mileage.
You will have to run different tire pressures. Not sure what it would be for an Expedition, but on an F150 40 psi would be about correct. maybe a couple pounds lower for the Expy. That would depend more upon your axle ratings. An F150s is 4k.

As far as the tires, The only ones you listed that I am familiar with is the BFG ATs. They are a good tire.

I put some LT 285/70-17 Firestone Destinations AT on my 99 Exp 4x4 and love them seem to handle better w/less sway. Haven't noticed a drop in fuel mileage for me. When it was cold, I noticed that the Destinations were a little more rough riding then the Michelin X-Radials that were previous on it but not enough for me to care.

I always ran 35/35 on my first 03. My new red 03 has Michelin LT tires on them, and i hate how damn rough it rides
