This is strange but yesterday I stomped on the gas pedal and ran it up to about 4500 rpm. After I did it felt like the brake pedal was firmer. Is that possible?

 

It sounds like there was just less vacuum to operate the vacuum assist at the high rpm, and why did you do this anyway?

 

I jump on it every now and then. I just noticed that the brake pedal was a bit mushy and after I jumped on it seemed to be firmer. It has done this before but I never linked the two events. It's got 24,000 on the odometer
