Question Aftermarket wheels

What would the best backspacing be for a 17"X8or9 or 18"x8or9 wheel. I would like to make sure there is no rubbing or trimming but don't want the wheel to stick out much further than stock or as little as possible. I will run 33" tires, something in the 305 size. So Mr Wandell or anyone else, please give your opinions, they will be welcome. Thanks. One more thing, is offset an issue? If so what do I need to fill my criteria. By the way, it's an 07 FX4.

If I remember correctly from the vast array of Wandell's expert advice, 5" of backspacing for an 18x9 wheel is your best bet to avoid any rubbing issues.

I'm sure others will chime in. Good luck with the wheel search.

I am currently running 35x12.50R18 Toyo M/Ts on 18x9s with 5.71" of backspacing with just a 2.5" level. This is on an '09 though. My tires are with a half inch of the upper control arm and rear shocks. I have done zero trimming and only rub backing up at 3/4 turn sometimes.

Offset and backspacing are different measurements but they tell you the same thing. Here is a link: http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...tte/index.html

I'd go with 5 to 6 inches of bs.
