Alright, so lately I've been looking at the option of going with a taller, more aggressive tire. I currently have 33" Terra Grapplers on my truck now but I want something different. I've narrowed my choices to 3 tires: Toyo Open Country M/T's, BFG Mud Terrain KM2's, and BFG Mud Terrain KM's. Although I have the BFG M/T KM's listed, I went to the BFG website and it only shows one size available for this particular tire (LT255/75R17). If that's the case, then it's only between the Toyo M/T and the BFG KM2. I've read on here that the Toyo is quieter but that's about it. Both tires have a real aggressive look to them which is what I'm wanting. I don't go offroad that often so it's just mainly for looks. How do these tires compare to one another? Which tire is best for the money? Am I trying to compare apples to oranges here, or are they pretty much the same tire with similar characteristics? I'm looking for 35x12.5x20's to fit on my stock rims. I have a 2.5" leveling kit up front now and a 1" leveling kit in the rear. I just think my truck would look alot better if it had more aggressive tires on it with a little less fender space. What are y'alls thoughts?

I have the Toyo's on my truck and I absolutely love them. I have gotten alot of compliments on them and they aren't loud or anything inside the cab. I would recommend them in a heart beat.

I think your going to get a split reaction about these 2 tires, their both very popular. I think you might have to make this decision on which ever you like the best. Their both similar, Toyo's are alittle quieter, the KM2's will handle better offroad and they both look great....

I would get the Toyo's if it were up to me they look great if thats what your going for but I dont think tirerack sells toyos. Just do google searchs for the tires your looking for and find a good looking website and find the cheapest. The price between the sites differs quite a bit and take shipping into account I know some are free.

Also if your just going for looks did you ever consider the Nitto Mud Grapplers they have a very aggressive sidewall. Just a thought.

Nah, I haven't really given them much thought. I searched the site and alot of people said they are loud as can be and don't last very long. I think I'm gonna go with the Toyo's.

 

I narrowed it down between the KM2s and Toyos as well. Here is why I went with the KM2s:

1) The KM2s are just as quiet as the Toyos. I can confirm this because my friend has Toyos and I have the KM2s. Both tires are nearly as quiet as aggressive ATs (like the Nittos and Procomps).

2) The KM2s wear very well. At 10k miles mine have barely worn, rotating every 3k I dont see any reason I wont see 50k+ out of this set. People have seen similar mileage from the Toyos, both have great tread wear.

3) The KM2s looks more aggressive than the Toyos and perform excellent both on and offroad.

4) The KM2s are ~13 pounds lighter per tire (on average) than the Toyos. This means less rolling mass, better gas mileage.

5) EVERYBODY has Toyos, very few people have KM2s (since they have only been out for 1.5 years or so). It makes my truck more unique I guess.

6) The KM2s are less expensive than the Toyos.

Both are great tires, you really can't go wrong with either one. Just laying out my personal experience for you.

 

Thanks for the input. Treadepot has the Toyo's for $321/ea. as I said above and I looked at Tirerack.com and they have the KM2's for $453/ea. That seems to be the price I'm finding for the KM2's. Pretty good price difference between the two. And I even found a set Toyos for $1,574.00 shipped.

The 35x12.50x20 Toyo M/T's are 10 ply. I wonder what ply my Terra Grapplers are...
