Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac... possibly my next tire?

As some of you may remember, I started a thread some time ago discussing making the switch from MT tires to AT tires. (this thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/wh...switch-mt.html )

While an AT tire is 10x more practicle than a MT tire is for me, the 24 year old side of me still wanted a tire that looked aggressive. I've looked around, read some reviews and even kind of back-tracked into wanting a set of muds again (mostly based on the positive things I continue to hear about the KM2), but while looking around at the local tire shops I was informed about the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.

The salesmen happened to have a set of 315/70/17 tires for me to look at (although they were sold and waiting to be installed on a customer's car), and I was instantly impressed. The tire almost looks like a mud terrain, especially with the lugs on the sidewall, but has TONS of siping and a tread pattern that looks like a happy medium between all terrain and mud terrain. When he mentioned the price (which I will have to compare to other shops), I was immediately floored.

Some of you may remember that I was considering moving up to 37s, but the more I think about that, the less I want to do it. Not only are the tires more expensive, but I would have to add 2" of lift and be that much more prone towards breaking things in the front end. I've decided that I am going to stay with 35s, but now I have another delima:

Do I want to keep my simple but kind of ugly 17" rims, or step up to a set of pretty looking 20" rims? The DuraTrac is offered in a 325/60/20 to suit my 35" tire needs, while also allowing use of the 20" rims.

Has anybody here had any experience with the DuraTrac tires, and does anyone know where to get the best price?

Yeah, I noticed that in pictures online they look kind of dumb... absolutely stunning in person though!

Now, if only someone could tell me how well they work.

There an awesome tire I got them about a week ago and have drove a little over 800 miles on them on the highway they handled great not sure about the noise cause I was in the middle of a muffler swap so I was dumped for my trip and when I get there I went mudding with some buddies and they ripped up the trails a hell of a lot better than my old BFG all terrains. Would definitely recommend them. Ill take a few more pics and put them on

There a few extra for ya to help you make your decision and I bought mine from tirerack for I think $225 a tire, it was $985 total including shipping and that was for 315/70-17's.. love the 35's.

ive had the duratracs for 2 months now and what a nice tire. their starting to have a lil bit more howl but only noticable when the windows are down. im in and out of camp almost every weekend roughly 55miles one way on some mad gravel roads. the last weekend, hauled 600 pounds of brick up and handled the road beautifully at 70-80kph or 40-50 mph for my american friends lol. if your looking for a tire that isnt as rough as a MT but need the traction when the time omes, i highly recommend these tires

I can't wait to get my set! I just have to decide if I'm going to get 315/70/17s or step up to 325/60/20s and buy rims at the same time.

Okay, change of plans for me...

I ordered a set of 18" rims, so I'll probably be getting my Duratracs in the 325/65/18 size now.

I live in CA, so I have to commute to the snow if I am interested in seeing it.

Great to hear the positive feedback on the DuraTracs.

I work at Goodyear Auto Service Center in Ann Arbor, MI. I've been eyeballing the DuraTracs ever since I got my F150 last month.

I'm thinking of adding a leveling kit to my 06 XL 2WD. Truck currently has 265/70R17 Kelly Safari SUV's on it.(on the truck when I bought it) I'm gonna use these up, then get some new wheels and tires this fall when I go back to school.

If I add a leveling kit, how big of a tire can I go on the truck without rubbing? I'd like to step up a little bit if possible so the truck doesn't look like it has little tiny wheels/tires on it.

I like the 17 inch size wheels, so I don't think I'm gonna upsize wheels in diameter, but maybe width, a little if possible.

What can be done with what level kits on my 2wd as far as tires go?

A 2" or 2.5" leveling kit should allow you room for 33" tall tires, provided the wheel offset is close to stock and you don't go terribly wide on the tire (295 is probably max width).

Right on. Thanks.

BTW, what is stock offset for the F150 wheels?
