Wheels and winter weather

I hear and see people changing there rims in the winter all the time im curious if this is necessary? I am looking at getting a set of Rockstars for my truck and well i live in ND actually to be exact right on the border of ND and MN and Minnesota likes to use alot of salt on there road and North Dakota seems to be getting in that habit now too in the winter so im curious is it really something that needs to be done in the winter? or should a set of the black Rockstars be ok in the winter if left on?

i d go with the black rockstars , im not too fond of them in chrome

and yes you would be able to run them in the winter if you went with black

i ran my cast black 7005's over the winter here in NJ , and they still look new

I live in the Twin Cities. Down here I keep the stockers to swap back on in the winter. Discount Tire will do it for free too so why not. That way my summer wheels stay nice and clean plus you get twice the life out of the tires. (I want to NDSU for a year and wow does it get f'ing cold there)

If the wheels are full painted they will be OK. Just put a good coat of hard paste wax on them before it snows, front and back, for protection and use a good spray quick wax once in awhile during the winter. Touch up all knicks in the paint right away. Don't run a polished, chrome, or wheel with a machined face in the winter.
