Aggravating, 17" rims

In market for tires. Just wondering why tires for 17" rims are expensive. Currently working on my leveling/raising suspension issues, and I know I can fit a fairly sizeable tire when I'm done, but I am not buying rims. I'm keeping the stock rims, but all my tire searches, no matter the size (barring a simple size change from 255 to 265) yields expensive tires. Why is that?

Bigger tires = more $$.
Look at comparable tires in 18" - priced higher than 17" - also less sizes available in 18" in my experience.

I would think it's due to more rubber equaling more $$$. The farther up you go in diameter the more $$$ it costs as well. Look at the prices for 20" wheels

Yeah, figured as much, Just aggravating. Any thoughts on tires with 17' rims that would be an upgrade from my stock 255/70's that wont looking effing stupid on 3" lifted truck? (which is probably what it will be) Stuff just seems so much easier on my Z28.

My 16's cost $130.00...my 18's go to $195.00. Try pricing 20's. Ouch!

Think I'll pass on the 20's. Gotta put some $$ aside for a new cam in the spring time anyway. Though, some of the 20's are pretty nice looking.

Supply and demand. Not as many 17", 18", 20" etc. tires made...

Most of the 265's that I have found are also an LT tire, which is an added cost, but also an added benefit.
