My Tire Guide

Dog'em, in an earlier thread mentioned no rubbing with the 285/65R20(34.6X11.2R20) tires, 5.9" BS, and on 20X9 rims, but w/ 4.4" BS he has slight rubbing the extreme position.

PawPaw, correct me if I'm wrong, but you switched the same tires 315X70R17 (34.4X12.4R17) from a 17X8 with 5.5"BS w/o rubbing to 17x9 with 5"BS w/ rubbing.

I am no expert, but drawing from what Dog'em and PawPaw said the following is my tire guide for 35's (well, just under 35") on a 2005 with 2.5" Leveling kit:

From Dog'em
11.2" Tire on 9" Rim: 5.9"BS = no rubbing; 4.4"BS = slight rubbing
11.2" Tire on 8' Rim: 5.2"BS = no rubbing; 3.9"BS = slight rubbing
From PawPaw
12.4" Tire on 9" Rim: 6.2"BS = no rubbing(*) 5"BS = slight rubbing
12.4" Tire on 8" Rim: 5.5"BS = no rubbing; 4.5"BS = slight rubbing

(*) No rubbing on wheelwell, but unsure if it would rub on suspension

What brand Add a Leaf's is everyone using. I work at a Ford Dealership and we installed a Skyjacker 1.5" Adda Leaf with a 2.5" leveling kit in the front and the truck sat like it did stock with the nose pointing to the ground, even after the 315/70/17 BFG'S were installed, truck would have had an awesome stance if it wasnt for the slope again.

I switched the 315's from a 9" wheel w/5" BS which rubbed to a 8" with 5.5 inches of BS wheel and had no rubbing.

If you go with a 12.5 wide tire I wouldn't even think about spacers. I did it with the 11" wide tire just to make the stance look better, I have not encountered any issues caused by the spacers other than the slight rub, something that I can't stand.

I went with the Skyjacker 1.5" because with a 2.5" level on an 05 it looked nose high, I also tow a 4,000 lb boat so this way the truck sits level when the boat is hooked up. The front end rake is minimal sitting on it's own.

I have an 08' FX4 F150 SCRW w/ 2.5" leveling kit with 35X12.5 R18 Pro Comp Xtreme Terrains on the factory wheels and have almost no rubbing at all. I put 1/4" spacers on the front wheels to gain a little extra clearance on the control arms. The only rubbing I have is on the inside plastic fender at full lock in reverse and it is very minimal.

How does the backend ride compared to stock? Is it a lot harsher? Also, how do you like the handle covers from Putco? I've been looking at getting those...they look sharp. My only question is about function. Do they feel cheap or anything like that? I'm also looking at getting mirror covers too.

The back is a little stiffer than stock but I wouldn't say it even comes close to being "harsh". If you ever plan on pulling a trailer then it is a very easy inexpensive way to go. If you don't ever plan on pulling trailers then a bigger block would be the way to go.

As for the Putcos, they are outstanding. I put them on about three and a half years ago and they are holding up great. Feel heavy and thick when you go to open the door and the finish isn't even scratched yet. I wanted something that was durable and would add a little flash to the truck without costing an arm and leg, I truly recommend them.
