another backspacing question

I have OEM 17's on my '09 . Looking at 17x9's with 5" of backspacing with 0 offset. How far will these stick out past my OEM's? Another question for something I can't keep straight. Offset and backspacing are the same or not? I only want new tire to be 1" to 1 1/2" past the OEM. BTW, Got a 2" leveling kit also. So, if I even found an 8" wide wheel, what are the backspacings I need to be looking for to accomplish this? Tires are a whole different story. Looking from anything from a 285/70 17 to a 305/70 17. Thanks for the help.

The 17x9 w/5" BS will stick out 2 inches more than stock. A 17x8.5 wheel with 5 1/2 inches of BS will stick out 1" more than stock. A 305x70x17 would look great on either wheel. That's a 34" tire.

BACKSPACING
This is a measurement from the mounting point of the wheel to the outer edge of the backside of the wheel.

OFFSET
This is a measurement of the mounting points' position in relation to the wheels imaginary centerline usually measured in MM.
For example a +30 wheels mounting pad is 30 mm forward (toward the face of the wheel) from its centerline.

Further details. An offset measurement will tell you NOTHING if you dont know the wheels width.
For example a 20X9.5 wheel with a +30 offset will NOT have the same backspacing as a 20X10 wheel with the same +30 offset.
the 10 wide wheel will have a Greater backspacing by a 1/4 inch
